Valley Air District and Tracy Unified Partner to Expand EV Charging

Charge Up! Program helped fund the installation of 38 EV chargers at Tracy schools

The Valley Air District has partnered with Tracy Unified School District to expand electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for Tracy residents. The Valley Air District was able to celebrate and commend the Tracy Unified School District during yesterday evening’s school board meeting when Valley Air District Governing Board Member and San Joaquin County Supervisor Robert Rickman presented the school district with a commemorative check for $212,000, recognizing their efforts in expanding EV charging infrastructure.

“Tracy Unified is appreciative of this generous grant from the Charge Up! Program, which allows us to help our community in supporting a clean environment,” said Dr. Robert Pecot, Tracy Unified School District Superintendent.

With $212,000 in funding assistance from the Valley Air District’s Charge Up! Program, Tracy Unified School District has installed 38 Level 2 EV chargers across school sites throughout the area. Many of these chargers boast two ports each, allowing for simultaneous charging of two vehicles, and are conveniently accessible to students, parents, school staff, and the public.

“At the Valley Air District, we value strong partnerships that incentivize Valley businesses, the general public and other agencies, such as Tracy Unified School District, to take action to help improve our air quality”, stated Rickman. The Valley Air District’s Charge Up! grant program provides public agencies, businesses and property owners of multi-unit dwellings, such as apartment buildings, an incentive of up to $50,000 per site to install EV chargers.
