Funding Available for Zero-Emission Landscaping Equipment in the Valley

Free showcase to provide local gardeners and landscapers an up-close look at zero-emission equipment

This program assists with the transition to electric equipment ahead of the statewide regulation beginning in 2024 that requires manufacturers to meet zero-emission engine standards. Participants can receive incentives up to $15,000 per device for the purchase of a wide range of zero-emission equipment, including ride-on mowers, walk-behind mowers, edgers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, pole saws, and brush cutters.

The District and CALSTART would like to invite all landscape professionals to a FREE event to learn about the ZELE program and the state’s CORE (Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project) program, that provide voucher incentives for electric equipment purchases. This event will offer informative sessions on state regulations and provide hands-on equipment demonstrations to explore the benefits of electric alternatives.

Gas-powered yard care equipment poses a significant source of localized air pollution in Valley neighborhoods, as the small engines powering the equipment lack emission controls and emit substantially more pollutants than newer passenger vehicles. To put it into perspective, one gas mower produces emissions equivalent to that of 12 late-model cars operating for the same duration.
